| Bio: | Welcome all to the Gallery Di Marzo! Our gallery features the unique and incredible works of Lexie Di Marzo whose years of experience and expertise birth one of the world's best Classical European Period and Historical Costume reproductions for 1/4 and 1/3 scale dolls. Lexie's keen attention to detail brings life and aunthenticity to the costumes from some of these eras: - Renaissance (from 14th to early 17th century) - Baroque (early 17th century) - Rococo (from 17th to early 18th century) - Regency (18th century) - Victorian (from late 18th to early 19th century) About Lexie Di Marzo and her works Shy and very friendly, Lexie currently resides in the quiet town of Corio in Victoria, Australia. As well as making reproduction costumes, her hobby includes Renaissance pottery painting. Integral to her costume works, is the keen sense of authenticity. Lexie believes that a work is not truly complete unless it is as close as possible to the original item. Hence, Lexie uses only the finest materials, antique fabric pieces, French lacings and knit work. Another unique feature of her work is that all jewelleries, accessories and embroideries are 100% hand made and painted by Lexie making her works truly individual pieces of art. Lexie has started many years ago by making costumes for the Tonner Doll scale (1/4 scale dolls), but has recently heard about Ball Jointed Dolls and is currently making her first BJD commission costumes for a Dollshe DoBermann. Please stay tune for more update of this work :D About this website project This online gallery was put together by Helene Kosasie on 1 January 2008, who upon seeing Lexie's works felt compelled to assemble together a portfolio of her works that can be enjoyed by the greater world wide audience. Starting on 1 January 2008, 15% of all proceeds made on the sale of any of Lexie's work on this website will go to various charitable organisations in Australia that fund cancer research. Helene makes no commission out of the marketing of Lexie's work, but she does sincerely hope that through this website more and more people will hear about Lexie's incredible works, purchase items on this site and donate to charities. Hopefully in the future they will also be interested to commission a costume for their doll which is unique to their own. About Helene Kosasie Helene lives in Melbourne, Australia. She has always had a keen interest in history and fashion design. It was in 2005 that she had come to know about resin Ball Jointed Dolls and started a humble collection of 60 to 70 cm resin dolls. Unfortunately to her grave dismay, she cannot sew anything remotely resembling a piece of cloth despite her overwhelming awe of the classical period costumes. When she met Lexie and came to know of her works, she decided that she would like to introduce Lexie to the rest of the world and hence was the creation of this website. As well as collecting resin dolls, her passion includes painting doll faces using pastel and watercolour pencil. A few of her humble works can be seen here: HELENE's FACE UP COLLECTION Contact Information If you have any enquiries or are interested to purchase any of the works featured in this gallery, please feel free to contact Helene Kosasie at the following email: dkeats82 (at) hotmail (dot) com Commission works At the moment Lexie is still testing the water with regards to taking commission works for the 1/3 scale dolls (approx 60 - 70 cm BJD dolls and other porcelain dolls of the same scale) but this is something she is currently working on and will be able to do in the near future. At present Lexie is putting together a couple of costumes for Helene's private 70 cm collection dolls to also see whether work in this scale doll is something she would enjoy doing. Lexie is currently taking commission works for 1/4 and 1/6 scale dolls (e.g. Tonner, Barbies and similar sized dolls). If you are interested to commission her for a costume, please email Helene at dkeats82 (at) hotmail (dot) com and leave a brief description of what you have in mind. Thank you very much for visiting our gallery! Best regards, Helene. | |||||||
